What’s The Estimated Recovery Time After Plastic Surgery For The Nose?

There are a lot of people that are interested in learning about the rhinoplasty recovery timeline. There is no exact answer your surgeon will be able to give, as it can vary according to the complexity of the work that has been done and the kind of rhinoplasty the surgeon applied.

 Effects

Every person recovers in a personal rhythm, but there are a series of effects that are experienced by everyone, regardless of their bodies; these are cast, bruising and swelling. Some might hope that the latter two only cover the nose area, but it is not true, as they will affect the whole nasal cavity. This is the reason why many people experience black eyes as a result of this procedure. The tear ducts and the eye sockets are connected to the nasal cavity, thus they can be influenced by the effects of bruising or swelling.

Week 1 to week 2

Once the rhinoplasty is done, the doctor in charge puts some packing up the nostrils in order to support the septum and to help stop the nose from bleeding and swelling. Those who have undergone a surgery like this often complain about difficulties in breathing and sometimes the assimilation of the stuffing in the nasal cavity.  One thing you should remember is to not touch that area very often, because it can displace and damage the results.

In the event this happens, a plastic surgery will decide if corrective measuresare necessary, especially if the deteriorations to the first one are serious. For instance, doctors might add splints that have the purpose to uphold and framework the zone. Some patients will find this burdensome, but the results will definitely be positive. A packing of this kind can be used from three to six days and during the first visit after the operation, the doctor in charge will remove the splint and any other elements.

Drugs

The first week after the surgery will require a lot of drugs for the pain. The doctor will also prescribe antibiotics that have the role to prevent infection. In addition to this, make sure to elevate the head during sleep or when you rest in order to reduce the swelling during the first few weeks after the procedure.

Side effects

Another thing that patients might experiment during the rhinoplasty recovery timeline is the puffiness. This can disappear after a few days but it can also last up to a couple of weeks. Many rhinoplasty patients have registered stuffy noses since discharges and bleeding can appear. Also, the lips will feel a bit numb but the sensation should go away after the first week.

One might even swallow some blood while the procedure happens and some patients might even vomit during the first two days after the intervention. In the case when the amount of blood is small, this can go through the stool giving it a darker color.

Bruising

If a surgeon uses open methods, bruising can appear and last for 6 months and even more, while in the closed procedure the period of bruising revolves around 6 weeks. Those who had a rhinoplasty can go back to their everyday activities at the end of the first week or during the second one, and may can even return to their jobs if they take care of the nose and make sure it does not suffer any trauma.
